MSR conducted the first salary survey in 1996 and since then this survey is carried out annually.  This report is the most comprehensive salary and cost of living report since it covers all industry sectors in Myanmar, including local companies, local-foreign joint-ventures, and 100% foreign companies.  The survey data is presented in tables to get a quick overview by several variables:

  • Overall data by position and by education for the entire private sector as a whole.

  • Salary payments of International NGOs and UN agencies operating in Myanmar
  • Salary scales of government employees together with historical data of government salary changes from 2000 to date are included.
  • Comparisons of salaries of the private business sectors, INGOs, UN agencies and government staff
  • Furthermore, inflation rate, consumer price trend, and CPI are included.
  • Additionally, this report shows detailed information and data on the cost of living for individual and families of local and foreign expatriates in Yangon
  • Benefits and allowances provided by companies in addition to salaries are shown as of 2019.
  • Finally, the Income Tax due on the income from the salary is shown at the end of the report.

The data reflects 284 companies across sectors and is collected annually between January to March.
