CITIC Consortium Myanmar Port Investment Ltd. (CITIC Consortium) and Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone Management Committee (KPSEZ MC) entered into transaction documents and jointly established a joint venture, Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone Deep Seaport Co., Ltd. (the “Project Company”) in 2020 for conceptualization, design, build, finance, operation, maintenance and transfer of Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone Deep Sea Port (KPSEZ DSP) Project in Kyaukphyu. In accordance with the transaction documents, CITIC Consortium is authorized to carry out the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) on three components, Made Island Port, Yanbye Island Port and a 15 Km Access Road and Bridge of KPSEZ DSP Project on behalf of the Project Company.

Myanmar Survey Research (MSR) presented the results of a representative nationwide study that was conducted during the first half of May 2020. 523 respondents were asked about about the impact on Covid 19 lockdowns in their lives, how the pandemic affected their economic status and their shopping patterns and where they obtain information about the sanitary crisis.

Myanmar Survey Research (MSR) Co. Ltd. signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Co. Ltd. (MURC) the consulting and think tank arm of MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group), the largest financial holding in Japan, on September 27, 2019.

Under the agreement, the two firms will share market insights in Myanmar and its surrounding markets and human resources exchange required for the other party’s businesses. Forming an alliance with a well-established Japanese company, MSR will better respond to the needs of its clients both from Japan and Myanmar.

In the context of this conference, MSR in cooperation with AHK Myanmar and Roland Berger will launch a jointly produced paper on the digital leapfrogging potentials across different sectors in Myanmar. The findings are based on new survey data explicitly collected and analyzed for the paper.

MSR’s youth study takes a closer look at the attitudes towards life of young people aged 15-29 years. Generation Z, those who are today aged below 24 years, will be the first generation that is or will be socialised during their adolescence in a fast advancing digital Myanmar. We investigated their values, attitudes, lifestyles, consumer behaviour and online patternst o come up with this comprehensive insight into the world of youngsters in Myanmar.

The internet penetration and usage of digital services has further increased in the past 1.5 years. Especially streaming services and online window shopping could register more users, while social media (esp. Facebook) is now used by most internet users. The smartphone is the primary device to go online. The ownership of other devices like computers/laptops has increased but is overall still low. This report also shows the consumer behavior in regard to saving and information sources used before buying products.

Under the title “YOUTH ရပ်ကွက်”, Goethe-Institut Myanmar and Myanmar Survey Research (MSR) organise a day for young Myanmar people between 15 and 29 to relax, discuss, reflect their lives, listen to music, being creative, talk to interesting people, paint on a graffiti wall, watch street performance, vote in a photo competition, and having fun!

In cooperation with JICA, MSR has organized this investment fair which took place from 30th Nov-1st Dec 2018 in Ngwe Saung. Prior to the fair, MSR conducted a survey on Investment Opportunities in this Region by interviewing companies across different sectors.
